Noname (rapper)

Noname, born Fatimah Nyeema Warner, is an American rapper, poet, and record producer from Chicago, Illinois. She gained significant recognition within the independent hip-hop scene for her complex lyricism, soulful production, and socially conscious themes.

Warner first gained attention through her appearances on fellow Chicago rapper Chance the Rapper's mixtape Acid Rap (2013). Her own debut mixtape, Telefone, was released in 2016 and garnered critical acclaim for its intimate and introspective exploration of identity, relationships, and Black womanhood.

Noname followed up Telefone with her debut studio album, Room 25, in 2018. This project continued to explore themes of identity, sexuality, and politics, further solidifying her reputation as a thoughtful and skilled lyricist. Room 25 was widely praised for its jazzy, sample-based production and Noname's distinctive delivery.

In 2024, she released her second studio album, Sundial.

Beyond her musical output, Noname is also known for her activism and social commentary. She established Noname's Book Club, an online community dedicated to uplifting Black voices and promoting literacy. The book club focuses on books written by authors of color, often with a focus on political theory and social justice.
