Neil Edwards (footballer, born 1967)

Neil Edwards (born 20 December 1967) is a Welsh former professional footballer. A defender, he made over 200 appearances in the Football League.

Edwards began his career as a trainee with Wrexham, turning professional in 1986. He quickly established himself in the first team, playing regularly in the Second Division for several seasons. In 1991, he moved to Tranmere Rovers, where he continued to be a key player in their defense.

After a successful spell with Tranmere, Edwards joined Chester City in 1996. He spent two seasons with the club before retiring from professional football. Following his retirement, Edwards worked in various roles, including youth coaching. He is remembered as a solid and dependable defender who contributed significantly to each of the clubs he played for.

His career spanned the late 1980s and 1990s, a period where Wrexham achieved some notable cup successes. While a consistent performer, Edwards did not achieve international recognition at senior level.
