National Civic Party (Panama)
The National Civic Party (Partido Nacional Cívico, PNC) was a political party in Panama. It was founded in 1984.
The PNC was generally considered a right-wing political organization. It participated in the 1984 presidential election as part of the Democratic Alliance (Alianza Democrática de Oposición, ADO), supporting Arnulfo Arias Madrid's bid for the presidency. The election results were highly contested and allegations of fraud were widespread.
Following the US invasion of Panama in 1989 and the restoration of democratic institutions, the PNC participated in subsequent elections. However, it never achieved significant electoral success and eventually disappeared from the Panamanian political landscape. The party's specific platform and history are not well-documented in readily available English-language sources, making a comprehensive assessment of its impact difficult.
