Nathaniel Alexander (bishop)

Nathaniel Alexander (born 1830, died 1911) was an American bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.

Alexander was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. He was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South in 1852. He served as a pastor in several churches in Virginia and North Carolina. He was elected as a bishop in 1882.

As bishop, Alexander presided over conferences throughout the Southern United States. He was known for his commitment to education and missions. He was a trustee of several colleges and universities, including Randolph-Macon College. He also played a key role in expanding Methodist missionary work in Brazil and Mexico.

Alexander retired from active service in 1910 and died the following year. He is remembered as a significant figure in the history of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
