Fudepen
A fudepen (筆ペン) is a Japanese brush pen. It is a writing implement that combines the convenience of a pen with the aesthetic qualities of a traditional calligraphy brush. Unlike a standard pen with a ballpoint or felt tip, a fudepen features a flexible brush tip, typically made of synthetic fibers, which allows the user to vary the thickness and texture of their lines by altering pressure. The ink, usually black, is self-contained within the pen's body, eliminating the need for an inkstone and brush washing.
Fudepen are popular for a variety of applications, including calligraphy practice, brush lettering, sketching, illustration, and everyday writing. They are available in a range of tip sizes and styles, from fine to broad, and with different ink formulations, such as waterproof or pigment-based inks. The pens are often refillable or disposable. The flexibility and control offered by a fudepen make it a versatile tool for both beginners and experienced artists seeking the look and feel of traditional brushwork in a convenient format.
