Na'aran (Israeli settlement)
Na'aran is an Israeli settlement located in the West Bank, in the Jordan Valley. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Bik'at HaYarden Regional Council. Founded in 1999, it is a community settlement (יישוב קהילתי, yishuv kehilati) aimed at fostering a strong sense of community amongst its residents. The name Na'aran is taken from a biblical town mentioned in the Book of Joshua (Joshua 16:7), located in the territory of the tribe of Ephraim, which is believed to be in the same general area. The settlement is primarily agricultural, with date palm cultivation being a significant economic activity. Its establishment and continued presence are considered controversial under international law, with many considering all Israeli settlements in the West Bank to be illegal.
