Moses (miniseries)
Moses is a 1974 Italian-British television miniseries directed by Gianfranco De Bosio and starring Burt Lancaster as Moses. The series is a dramatization of the biblical story of Moses, from his birth and discovery in the Nile to the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and the giving of the Ten Commandments.
The miniseries was a co-production between Italian broadcaster RAI and British production company ITC Entertainment. It was originally broadcast in six parts, each approximately 90 minutes long. It became popular internationally, airing in numerous countries and often being condensed into a shorter theatrical film version.
Key cast members alongside Lancaster included Anthony Quayle as Aaron, Ingrid Thulin as Miriam, Irene Papas as Zipporah, and Laurent Terzieff as Pharaoh Merneptah. The miniseries is notable for its large scale, its on-location filming in Israel and Egypt, and its relatively faithful adaptation of the biblical narrative. It garnered generally positive reviews for its performances, cinematography, and historical depiction.
