Monarch (American TV series)

Monarch is an American musical drama television series created by Melissa London Hilfers. It premiered on Fox on September 11, 2022. The series stars Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins, Anna Friel, Beth Ditto, Joshua Sasse, Meagan Holder, Inigo Dominic Pascual, and Emma Milani.

The series centers on the Roman family, a dynasty of country music singers in Texas. Dottie Roman (Susan Sarandon) is the matriarch of the family, known as the "Queen of Country Music." Her husband, Albie Roman (Trace Adkins), is a respected and successful country singer in his own right. Their children, Nicky Roman (Anna Friel), Gigi Roman (Beth Ditto), and Luke Roman (Joshua Sasse), all navigate the pressures of fame and ambition while dealing with family secrets and rivalries. The show features original music and covers of popular country songs.

The series explores themes of family, ambition, legacy, and the darker side of the entertainment industry. It includes flashbacks to earlier periods in the Roman family's history, revealing how they built their empire. It was cancelled after one season due to low ratings.
