Mike O'Neill (basketball)

Mike O'Neill is an American college basketball coach. He is currently the head men's basketball coach at Fairfield University, a position he has held since 2023.

Prior to his tenure at Fairfield, O'Neill served as an assistant coach at Northwestern University under Chris Collins. Before Northwestern, he had a long and successful run as the head coach at Lehigh University from 2007 to 2023. During his time at Lehigh, he led the Mountain Hawks to two Patriot League Tournament championships and subsequent NCAA Tournament appearances in 2010 and 2012. The 2012 team notably upset Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

O'Neill has a reputation as a strong recruiter and developer of talent. His coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork, defense, and player development. He is a graduate of Williams College, where he also played basketball.
