Mark Smith (Iowa politician)

Mark Smith is an American politician from Iowa. He served as a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 71 from 2001 to 2019. District 71 encompassed Marshalltown, Iowa.

During his time in the Iowa House, Smith held several leadership positions, including serving as the House Minority Leader. He was known for his work on issues related to mental health, healthcare, and education. Prior to his legislative service, Smith was involved in local government and community activism.

He did not seek re-election in 2018.
