Jon Singleton (baseball)

Jonathan Charles "Jon" Singleton (born September 18, 1991) is an American professional baseball first baseman who is currently a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers.

Singleton was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the eighth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He was later traded to the Houston Astros.

Known for his prodigious power, Singleton was a highly regarded prospect but faced challenges overcoming personal struggles, including substance abuse issues that led to multiple suspensions. He signed a historic contract extension with the Astros while still in the minor leagues, a deal that guaranteed him a significant sum of money despite his limited MLB experience at the time.

Singleton debuted in MLB with the Astros in 2014. He struggled to consistently perform at the major league level and ultimately spent considerable time in the minor leagues throughout his tenure with the organization.

After his time with the Astros, Singleton continued his professional career with various organizations, including time in the Mexican League. In 2023, he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers, marking his return to MLB. He was later designated for assignment.
