Maria Butaciu

Maria Butaciu (born August 1, 1951, Călărași, Romania – died February 24, 2018, Bucharest, Romania) was a prominent Romanian folk music singer, known for her powerful vocals and interpretations of traditional Romanian folk songs, particularly from the Oltenia region. She was a highly respected figure in Romanian musical culture, performing extensively throughout her career both in Romania and internationally. Butaciu released numerous albums and singles, many of which became staples of Romanian radio. Her performances often featured traditional Romanian costumes and dances, helping to preserve and promote Romanian cultural heritage.
