Mangoush
Mangoush, alternatively spelled Mangush, is a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Mangush Raion. The city is located near the coast of the Sea of Azov, west of Mariupol.
Historically, the area was inhabited by various groups including Greeks, Turks, and Crimean Tatars. The modern settlement's history is closely tied to the Greek population of the region. Following the Russo-Turkish wars, many Greeks from Crimea were resettled in the Azov region, including the area that would become Mangoush.
Mangoush's economy is primarily based on agriculture and related industries. It also functions as a local service center for the surrounding agricultural areas.
The city has been affected by the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, particularly following the 2022 Russian invasion. The extent of the impact on the population and infrastructure is subject to change depending on the conflict's progress. Information regarding the current humanitarian situation should be verified from reliable news sources and humanitarian organizations.
