Maierato
Maierato is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Vibo Valentia in the Italian region of Calabria, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Catanzaro and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) northeast of Vibo Valentia.
Maierato is situated in a hilly area with a predominantly agricultural economy. The main crops cultivated are olives, grapes, and cereals.
Historically, the area has been inhabited since ancient times, with evidence of settlements dating back to the Roman era. The modern town developed around a medieval castle.
The municipality borders the following comuni: Capistrano, Filogaso, Francavilla Angitola, Monterosso Calabro, Pizzo, Sant'Onofrio.
