Luxury (Iowa band)
Luxury was an American Christian post-hardcore band formed in Iowa in the mid-1990s. Initially influenced by alternative rock and grunge, their sound evolved to incorporate elements of post-hardcore, art rock, and even hints of punk.
The band was composed of brothers Lee Bozeman (vocals) and Jamey Bozeman (guitar), along with Matt Hinton (bass), and Glenn Black (drums). While their instrumentation and song structures often resembled secular post-hardcore bands, Luxury was openly Christian and their lyrics often explored themes of faith, doubt, and redemption.
Luxury released three studio albums during their active period: Amazing and Thank You (1995), Be Careful What You Ask For (1999), and Health and Happiness (2005). Amazing and Thank You established their initial sound, while Be Careful What You Ask For is considered by many to be their most acclaimed work, showcasing a more refined and mature approach to songwriting and arrangement. Health and Happiness, released several years later, continued to explore similar thematic and musical territory.
The band toured extensively, building a dedicated following within the Christian alternative rock scene. While never achieving mainstream success, Luxury garnered critical acclaim for their intelligent lyrics, complex instrumentation, and passionate live performances. The band eventually dissolved in the late 2000s.
Despite their relatively short lifespan, Luxury is remembered for their contribution to the Christian alternative music landscape and their unique blend of musical styles and lyrical depth. Their music continues to be appreciated by fans who value thoughtful and challenging rock music.
