Luis Gil (baseball)

Luis Gil (born June 3, 1998) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Gil signed with the Minnesota Twins as an international free agent in 2015. He was traded to the New York Yankees in 2018. He made his MLB debut with the Yankees on August 3, 2021.

Known for his fastball, slider and changeup, Gil quickly impressed in his initial appearances, posting scoreless streaks and demonstrating strong strikeout ability. Tommy John surgery in 2022 sidelined him, but he returned to the Yankees in 2024 and re-established himself as a valuable member of the pitching staff.
