Korova (record label)
Korova was a British record label founded in 1979. It was initially distributed by WEA (Warner-Elektra-Atlantic) and is most famous for being the label that signed Echo & the Bunnymen and produced their early albums. Other notable artists signed to Korova included The Teardrop Explodes, as well as artists such as Lori and The Planets.
The name "Korova" is derived from the Korova Milkbar in Anthony Burgess's novel A Clockwork Orange. The label cultivated a distinctive artistic identity, often employing atmospheric and experimental production techniques.
Korova was ultimately absorbed into WEA. While the Korova name is less prominent today, it remains a significant part of the history of post-punk and new wave music in the UK, remembered for its association with influential and innovative artists. Its catalog continues to be managed by Warner Music Group.
