Koiluoto
Koiluoto is a small island located in the Gulf of Finland, part of the Finnish archipelago. It is situated southwest of Helsinki.
Koiluoto is primarily known as a former military area and is now part of the Porkkala Parenthesis area. After World War II, the Soviet Union leased the Porkkala region from Finland, and Koiluoto was within this leased territory.
Following the return of Porkkala to Finland in 1956, Koiluoto reverted back to Finnish control. It is largely uninhabited and characterized by its rugged, rocky terrain and typical Baltic Sea coastal vegetation. The island holds historical significance due to its role during the Soviet lease period. It's occasionally visited by boaters and those interested in the history of the region.
