Kamil (metre)

A kamil is an archaic unit of length used historically in the Ottoman Empire and some parts of the Middle East. It is primarily defined as an architectural measure, roughly equivalent to the metre.

The exact length of a kamil could vary slightly depending on the region and the context of its use. Sources generally place it in the range of 1 metre to 1.05 metres. It was often employed in the planning and construction of buildings, particularly for specifying dimensions of rooms, walls, and other structural elements.

The kamil is not commonly used today, having been superseded by the metric system in most areas. Historical documents and architectural plans from the Ottoman period may still reference this unit of measurement, requiring conversion for modern understanding and analysis.
