John Gardner (Rhode Island governor)

John Gardner (1747-1808) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 9th Governor of Rhode Island. He was born in Newport, Rhode Island. Gardner was a prominent figure in Rhode Island politics during a period of significant transition, navigating the state's initial reluctance towards the United States Constitution.
