Joe Gannon (baseball)
Joe Gannon (born July 17, 1943) is a former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers (1967-1971) and the New York Yankees (1972-1976).
Gannon was drafted by the Washington Senators in the 20th round of the 1964 MLB draft. He primarily served as a starting pitcher throughout his career. His best season came in 1971 with the Texas Rangers, where he posted a 13-13 record with a 3.04 earned run average (ERA).
Known for his control and ability to keep the ball in the strike zone, Gannon was a valuable member of the Yankees' pitching staff during the early 1970s, although he was not a star player. He retired from baseball following the 1976 season.
