Iced Earth (album)
Iced Earth is the self-titled debut studio album by the American heavy metal band Iced Earth. It was released in November 1990 through Century Media Records. The album showcases the band's early sound, a blend of thrash metal, power metal, and heavy metal influences, with lyrical themes exploring darkness, fantasy, and social commentary. It features the band's early lineup, including Gene Adam on vocals, Jon Schaffer on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Randall Shawver on lead guitar, Dave Abell on bass, and Mike McGill on drums. While not a commercial breakthrough upon release, Iced Earth has since become a notable album within the band's discography, establishing their signature sound and lyrical themes that would continue to be developed in later works. Key tracks include "Iced Earth," "Written on the Walls," and "Colors." The album was produced by Tom Morris at Morrisound Recording.
