Hugh John MacDonald (Alberta politician)
Hugh John MacDonald (1874 – 1948) was a politician in Alberta, Canada. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the Peace River constituency from 1921 to 1935. He was elected under the United Farmers of Alberta banner and was re-elected in 1926 and 1930. MacDonald served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 1931 to 1935. His career ended with the defeat of the UFA government in the 1935 Alberta general election. Prior to his political career, he was a farmer and active in local agricultural societies.
