Hugh Harris (ice hockey)

Hugh Harris (born February 28, 1950) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played primarily in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and later in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Harris began his professional career in the WHA with the Minnesota Fighting Saints in 1972. He was known for his defensive play and physical style. He subsequently played for the Michigan Stags/Baltimore Blades, Phoenix Roadrunners, and Edmonton Oilers in the WHA.

Following the WHA-NHL merger in 1979, Harris joined the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. He played with the Oilers until 1983, contributing to the team's early successes and establishing himself as a reliable defenseman. His NHL career also included a stint with the New Jersey Devils, where he finished his professional career.

After retiring from professional hockey, Harris remained involved in the sport through coaching and other activities.
