Hi Life (album)
Hi Life is the second studio album by American hip hop duo Camp Lo, released in 1999 on Profile Records. The album departed from the abstract, jazz-infused sound of their debut, Uptown Saturday Night, and adopted a more contemporary, R&B influenced style. The production credits include Ski Beatz (who produced much of their first album), as well as contributions from Deff Jef and others. Hi Life features guest appearances from Butterfly of Digable Planets and Jungle Brown. The album received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising its ambition and others criticizing its departure from the group's original sound. While Hi Life did not achieve the commercial success of Uptown Saturday Night, it remains a notable entry in Camp Lo's discography, representing a significant shift in their artistic direction.
