HMS Thistle (N24)
HMS Thistle (N24) was a British Royal Navy submarine of the T-class. Built by Vickers-Armstrongs in Barrow-in-Furness, she was laid down on 28 September 1937, launched on 25 October 1938, and commissioned on 4 January 1939. During World War II, HMS Thistle operated primarily in the North Sea and Norwegian waters.
Her operational service involved patrolling and attacking enemy shipping. HMS Thistle achieved several successes, sinking or damaging German vessels. However, she was lost on 10 April 1940, after being sunk by the German submarine U-4 off the coast of Norway. All hands were lost. The wreck of HMS Thistle was discovered in 1999.
