Gravion
Gravion is a Japanese mecha anime series produced by Gonzo and directed by Masami Ōbari. The first season aired in 2002, followed by a second season, Gravion Zwei, in 2004.
The series centers around Eiji Shigure, a young man drawn to the enigmatic billionaire Sandman, who has gathered a group of individuals to pilot the Gran Kaisers, giant robots designed to combine into the super robot Gravion. Their purpose is to defend Earth from the Zeravire, a mysterious alien race that threatens humanity.
The Gravion's unique feature is its combination sequence, relying on the pilot's emotional connection and the power of "G-Factor" energy. Each Gran Kaiser specializes in different combat roles, and the combined form offers immense power.
The series is known for its mecha designs, dynamic action sequences, and dramatic storyline exploring themes of family, destiny, and the burden of power. Gravion Zwei expands on the lore and introduces new characters and enemies, delving deeper into the origins of the Zeravire and the secrets surrounding Sandman's motivations. The series utilizes a blend of traditional animation and CGI techniques, common in anime of the early 2000s.
