HMS Oryx

HMS Oryx was the name of several ships of the British Royal Navy, named after the oryx, a type of antelope. These included:

• HMS Oryx (1886): A Mariner-class composite screw gunvessel launched in 1886. She served on various foreign stations before being sold in 1906.

• HMS Oryx (1914): An Acorn-class destroyer launched in 1914. She served during World War I and was sold in 1921.

• HMS Oryx (F18): A Black Swan-class sloop launched in 1942. She served during World War II, participating in convoy escort duties and anti-submarine warfare. She was broken up in 1964.
