Gold Line (MARTA)
The Gold Line is a rapid transit line operated by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) in Atlanta, Georgia, and surrounding areas. It is one of four rail lines in the MARTA rail system, the others being the Red, Blue, and Green Lines.
The Gold Line's route primarily runs north-south on the northeast side of the city, extending from Doraville station in northern DeKalb County, southward through Buckhead and Midtown Atlanta, before terminating at the Five Points station in downtown Atlanta. At Five Points, passengers can transfer to the Red, Blue, and Green Lines.
Originally known as the Northeast Line, it was renamed the Gold Line as part of MARTA's color-coding initiative to improve wayfinding for passengers. The Gold Line provides access to a variety of key destinations, including commercial districts, residential areas, educational institutions, and cultural attractions. Stations along the line are served by connecting bus routes, offering further transportation options throughout the metropolitan area. The line serves as a vital transportation artery, contributing to the region's connectivity and accessibility.
