George Richardson (Indian Army officer)
George Richardson (born 1868, died 1938) was a British officer in the Indian Army. He is primarily known for his work in surveying and intelligence gathering on the North-West Frontier of British India, particularly in regions bordering Afghanistan and Tibet.
Richardson was commissioned into the Indian Army and served with distinction in various frontier operations. He possessed a strong aptitude for languages and developed fluency in several local dialects, which proved invaluable for his intelligence work. He spent considerable time undercover, gathering information about tribal movements, political instability, and potential threats to British interests.
His efforts significantly contributed to the understanding of the complex political landscape of the North-West Frontier. He also produced detailed maps and reports that aided in military planning and border security.
Richardson retired from the Indian Army in the late 1920s.
