George Benson (footballer)
George Benson (born November 12, 1984) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.
Benson began his career in the youth system at Barnsley, turning professional in 2003. He spent time on loan at Scarborough before establishing himself in the Barnsley first team.
In January 2008, he moved to Colchester United. He subsequently played for several other clubs including Southend United, Swindon Town, Grimsby Town, York City, and Guiseley, often on loan spells.
Throughout his career, Benson was known as a hard-working and versatile midfielder, capable of playing in various roles. He retired from professional football in 2019.
