Foreign Service Academy (Bangladesh)
The Foreign Service Academy (Bangladesh), often referred to as the FSA, is the primary training institution for diplomats and other officials of the Bangladesh Foreign Service. Located in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, the Academy is responsible for providing foundational training to newly recruited Assistant Secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as offering refresher courses and specialized training programs for mid-career and senior diplomats.
The Academy's curriculum typically covers a broad range of subjects relevant to diplomacy and international relations. These subjects include international law, international economics, political science, foreign policy analysis, negotiation skills, protocol and etiquette, public speaking, and consular affairs. The FSA also emphasizes language training, offering courses in various foreign languages relevant to Bangladesh's diplomatic interests.
The Foreign Service Academy aims to equip Bangladeshi diplomats with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively represent Bangladesh's interests abroad and contribute to the formulation and implementation of its foreign policy. It also plays a role in fostering a sense of professionalism and esprit de corps among members of the Foreign Service. The Academy often hosts seminars, workshops, and conferences on contemporary international issues, bringing together diplomats, academics, and other experts. It also collaborates with foreign diplomatic academies and institutions to promote knowledge sharing and best practices in diplomatic training.
