Feteira (Horta)

Feteira is a parish (Portuguese: freguesia) in the municipality of Horta, located on the island of Faial in the Azores archipelago of Portugal. Situated on the western coast of the island, Feteira is primarily a rural and agricultural community.

The name "Feteira" likely derives from the Portuguese word "feto," meaning fern, alluding to the prevalence of ferns in the area when it was initially settled.

The parish is characterized by its green landscapes, traditional Azorean architecture, and views of the Atlantic Ocean. Its economy is mainly based on agriculture, with dairy farming and the cultivation of crops such as maize and potatoes being important. Tourism, although not as significant as in other parts of Faial, also contributes to the local economy, with visitors attracted by the natural beauty of the area.

Feteira features a church, Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Graça, as well as other small chapels and local businesses catering to the community. The parish is connected to the rest of the island by roads and public transportation, though services may be less frequent compared to more urban areas.
