Fernando Salas (baseball)

Fernando Salas (born May 30, 1985) is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Philadelphia Phillies.

Salas was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2006. He made his MLB debut with the Cardinals in 2010, quickly establishing himself as a reliable reliever. He served as the Cardinals' closer in 2011 and 2012.

Throughout his career, Salas has been known for his fastball and slider combination. While his performance has varied, he has consistently provided teams with a veteran presence in the bullpen. He has pitched in numerous high-leverage situations and has demonstrated durability over his career.

Salas has also represented Mexico in international competition, including the World Baseball Classic.
