February 29 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics)
In Eastern Orthodox liturgical practice, the observance of saints whose feast days fall on February 29 in a leap year is handled uniquely. Generally, when February 29 occurs, the fixed commemorations (saints' days) scheduled for that date are moved to March 1. This ensures the liturgical calendar maintains its normal progression in both leap and non-leap years. The movable feasts, which are dependent on the date of Pascha (Easter), are unaffected by the leap year adjustment. This practice prevents the disturbance of the established order of services and readings throughout the liturgical year.
