Eversti

Eversti is a Finnish military rank. It is equivalent to the rank of Colonel in many other armed forces. It sits above everstiluutnantti (Lieutenant Colonel) and below kenraalimajuri (Major General). The rank is bestowed upon officers who have demonstrated significant leadership and command abilities. An eversti typically commands a regiment or a similarly sized unit. In peacetime, eversti can also hold staff positions at higher headquarters, such as brigades or the Defence Command. The insignia for an eversti typically consists of three lions in a row. The term "eversti" is derived from the Swedish word "överste," reflecting historical linguistic influences.
