ESCM (album)

ESCM is the debut studio album by Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), originally released in 1993. The album is notable for marking YMO's reunion after a long period of inactivity, with the original lineup of Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Ryuichi Sakamoto returning. The album's title, ESCM, is taken from the initials of the members' surnames: E for Hosono, S for Sakamoto, C for Takahashi and M for the band's management company.

Musically, ESCM represents a departure from YMO's earlier, more overtly electronic sound. While electronic elements are still present, the album incorporates a wider range of influences, including ambient, techno, and world music. The album features contributions from various guest musicians.
