Destination X (2012)
Destination X (2012) was a professional wrestling event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). It took place on July 8, 2012, at the Impact Wrestling Zone in Orlando, Florida. It was the eighth event in the Destination X chronology.
The event is notable for being part of TNA's "Bound for Glory Series," where TNA wrestlers earned points throughout the summer to qualify for a match at Bound for Glory, TNA's biggest pay-per-view event of the year. Destination X specifically featured the "Option C" stipulation, where the TNA X Division Champion could voluntarily relinquish the X Division Championship for a guaranteed shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at the event.
The main event of Destination X (2012) saw Austin Aries exercise "Option C," relinquish the X Division Championship, and defeat Bobby Roode to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. This marked Aries' first TNA World Heavyweight Championship win. Other notable matches included a tournament final to determine the new X Division Champion, ultimately won by Zema Ion.
