D.P. (TV series)

D.P. (Deserter Pursuit) is a South Korean streaming television series directed by Han Jun-hee, based on the webtoon D.P. Dog Day by Kim Bo-tong. The series follows An Jun-ho, a young private in the South Korean military who unexpectedly becomes a member of the Deserter Pursuit team, a unit tasked with tracking down and apprehending military deserters.

Each episode explores the reasons why soldiers desert, offering a critical commentary on bullying, hazing (known as taeium in Korean), and systemic issues within the South Korean military system. The series depicts the emotional and psychological toll that military service can take on young men, as well as the often-desperate circumstances that lead individuals to abandon their posts.

The first season, consisting of six episodes, was released on Netflix in August 2021. It received critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of military life, its compelling narrative, and its powerful performances. A second season, also consisting of six episodes, was released in July 2023, continuing the story of An Jun-ho and his efforts to understand and prevent desertion. The series tackles difficult themes of abuse, mental health, and the complexities of duty versus conscience. The cast includes Jung Hae-in, Koo Kyo-hwan, Kim Sung-kyun, and Son Suk-ku.
