The album was produced by multiple producers, including John Alagia, Mark Batson, Rob Cavallo, and Pete Karem. This marked a departure from their previous albums, which were typically produced by a single producer.

Come Tomorrow features a blend of the band's signature jam-band sound with elements of pop, rock, and folk. The album's themes include hope, unity, social commentary, and personal reflection.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, making it Dave Matthews Band's seventh consecutive number-one album on that chart. Several singles were released from the album, including "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)," "That Girl Is You," and "Here On Out."

The album's release was followed by a summer tour in 2018.
