Cloghane

Cloghane (Irish: An Clochán) is a village in County Kerry, Ireland, located on the Dingle Peninsula. It sits at the foot of Mount Brandon, the second-highest mountain in Ireland, and is part of the Gaeltacht region, where the Irish language is spoken. The village is situated on the northern side of Brandon Bay and is approximately 12 km west of Castlegregory. Historically, Cloghane was a small fishing and farming community, and while agriculture continues to be a factor, tourism has become increasingly important to the local economy. The village offers accommodation and services for visitors exploring the surrounding landscape, including hikers, surfers, and those interested in the Irish language and culture. The name An Clochán translates to "the stepping stones" in English, possibly referring to a crossing point over a local river or stream.
