Clint Hill (Secret Service)

Clint Hill (born January 4, 1932) is a former United States Secret Service agent best known for his heroic actions during the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. Hill served in the Secret Service from 1958 to 1975, protecting Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford.

On that fateful day in Dallas, Hill was assigned to protect First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and was riding on the left-rear running board of the presidential limousine's follow-up car. When shots rang out, Hill immediately jumped from the follow-up car and sprinted towards the limousine. He vaulted onto the back of the car after the fatal shot struck President Kennedy in the head, attempting to shield both the President and First Lady.

Hill's bravery and quick response have been widely praised, and he is often credited with potentially saving Mrs. Kennedy's life by preventing her from falling out of the limousine after the shooting. His actions are considered by many to be an example of exceptional courage and dedication under extreme pressure.

Following President Kennedy's assassination, Hill continued his Secret Service career, eventually retiring in 1975 as Assistant Director responsible for all protective forces. He has since written several books about his experiences, offering a firsthand account of his time in the Secret Service and the events surrounding the Kennedy assassination. These memoirs provide valuable historical insights into the presidency and the role of the Secret Service.
