Charles Green (Australian soldier)
Charles Green (1891 – 1918) was an Australian soldier who served during World War I.
Green enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on 19 February 1916, and was assigned to the 31st Battalion. He embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, aboard HMAT A71 Nestor on 5 June 1916, bound for the United Kingdom.
After training in England, Green’s battalion deployed to the Western Front in France. He saw action in various battles, including engagements on the Somme in 1916 and subsequent offensives in 1917 and 1918.
Green was killed in action on 30 September 1918, during the Hundred Days Offensive, the series of Allied victories that ultimately led to the end of the war. His death occurred near Bellenglise, France, during the Battle of St. Quentin Canal.
He is commemorated at the Bellicourt British Cemetery, Bellicourt, France.
