Charles Gordon (lawyer)

Charles Gordon (1900-1994) was a prominent American immigration lawyer and legal scholar. He is best known for co-authoring "Immigration Law and Procedure," a multi-volume treatise widely regarded as the leading authority on U.S. immigration law for several decades.

Gordon graduated from New York University School of Law. He practiced immigration law for many years, becoming a recognized expert in the field. Beyond his practice, his work had a lasting impact on the understanding and application of immigration law.

"Immigration Law and Procedure," initially published in 1959, became a standard reference for lawyers, judges, and government officials dealing with complex immigration matters. The treatise detailed statutory provisions, regulations, case law, and administrative practices, offering in-depth analysis and practical guidance. The work has been updated and revised by various authors since Gordon's death and continues to be a highly respected resource.

Gordon also served on various government advisory boards and committees related to immigration policy. His contributions helped shape the legal landscape of immigration in the United States. He was a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
