The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Центральна виборча комісія України, Tsentral'na vyborcha komisiya Ukrayiny) is a permanent state body in Ukraine responsible for organizing and conducting elections and referendums in the country. It is a key institution in Ukraine's electoral process, ensuring that elections are free, fair, and transparent.

The CEC is responsible for a wide range of activities related to elections, including:

  • Registering political parties and candidates for elections.
  • Establishing electoral districts and polling stations.
  • Supervising the voting process, including the printing of ballots and the counting of votes.
  • Certifying election results.
  • Ensuring compliance with electoral laws and regulations.
  • Providing voter education and information.
  • Resolving electoral disputes.

The composition and powers of the CEC are defined by the Constitution of Ukraine and relevant electoral laws. Members of the CEC are appointed by the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) upon the nomination of the President of Ukraine. They serve fixed terms. The CEC is accountable to the Ukrainian Parliament and operates independently from the government.

The CEC plays a critical role in safeguarding the democratic process in Ukraine. Its activities are essential for ensuring that the will of the people is accurately reflected in election outcomes and that elections are conducted in a manner that is consistent with international standards.
