Carlos Espínola (sailor)

Carlos Espínola (born October 5, 1971, in Corrientes) is an Argentine sailor and politician. He is one of Argentina's most decorated Olympians, having won four Olympic medals in sailing: two silver and two bronze.

Espínola competed in the Mistral class at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, winning a silver medal. He followed this with another silver in the same class at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He then transitioned to the Tornado class, where he won bronze medals at both the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, partnered with Santiago Lange.

Beyond his Olympic success, Espínola has achieved significant results in various sailing world championships and other international competitions.

Following his sailing career, Espínola entered politics. He has served as Secretary of Sports for the province of Corrientes and later as mayor of the city of Corrientes. His political activities have focused on promoting sports and improving infrastructure in his home province.
