Brett Burton

Brett Burton (born July 27, 1978) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Burton, nicknamed "The Birdman" for his spectacular marking ability, played primarily as a defender and occasionally as a forward. He was known for his athleticism, courage, and ability to take high-flying marks.

Burton was drafted by Adelaide with pick 16 in the 1998 AFL Draft. He made his AFL debut in 1999 and quickly established himself as a key player in the Crows' defence. He was a consistent performer for the club, known for his strong marking contests and ability to read the play.

Throughout his career, Burton suffered a number of serious knee injuries that impacted his playing time. He underwent multiple knee reconstructions.

Burton retired from AFL football at the end of the 2010 season. Following his retirement, he has been involved in various coaching and mentoring roles.
