Bradunia

Bradunia was an ancient Roman settlement located in present-day Germany. It was situated along the Rhine River, near the modern city of Bonn. Bradunia served as a Roman fort, part of the Limes Germanicus, the fortified frontier that separated the Roman Empire from the Germanic tribes. Its primary function was to provide a military presence and control the river traffic, as well as to monitor and deter incursions by Germanic peoples. Archaeological evidence suggests that the fort was occupied from approximately the 1st century AD to the 5th century AD.
