Bob Amsberry (basketball)

Bob Amsberry (January 29, 1927 – February 12, 1957) was an American basketball player and television personality. He is best known for his role as one of the original "Mouseketeers" adult leaders on The Mickey Mouse Club television program, where he was often referred to as "Bob the Mouseketeer."

Prior to his television career, Amsberry was a college basketball player. He played for the University of Oregon Ducks from 1948 to 1950. He was a starting guard and known for his defensive abilities.

After his time playing basketball, Amsberry transitioned to a career in entertainment. He was selected as one of the adult supervisors for The Mickey Mouse Club, which premiered in 1955. He appeared regularly on the show, interacting with the young Mouseketeer cast and leading the audience in sing-alongs and activities.

Tragically, Bob Amsberry died in a car accident in 1957 at the age of 30. His death was a shock to the Mickey Mouse Club cast and crew, and he is remembered fondly by many who grew up watching the show.
