American Football (EP)

American Football (EP) refers to two separate extended play (EP) recordings released by the band American Football. Both EPs predate their self-titled debut album and contributed significantly to the band's early recognition and cult following.

American Football (EP) [1998]

This first EP, often referred to simply as "American Football EP," was released in 1998 on Polyvinyl Record Co. It contains three tracks that established the band's signature sound: intricate guitar work, emotionally resonant lyrics, and Mike Kinsella's distinctive vocals. This EP helped to solidify the band's place within the burgeoning emo scene of the late 1990s. The songs included are "The Summer Ends", "For Sure" and "Stay Home".

American Football (EP) [1999]

The second EP, also self-titled, was released in 1999, again on Polyvinyl Record Co. Like its predecessor, it features the band's distinctive blend of emo and indie rock influences. It contains two tracks "Five Silent Miles" and "Untitled", further developing the band's emotional and musical complexity. While less widely known than their debut album, this EP is considered an important part of American Football's discography, showcasing the band's progression in songwriting and production.
